A partnership between the Rotary Clubs of Flemington Kensington, Williamstown and Pascoe Vale has seen RORP collect nine playgrounds from Brimbank, Melton, Moonee Valley and Geelong councils this year.

Eight of the playgrounds, dismantled into easily handled pieces and labelled for reassembly were loaded into the shipping container on 18 August at MEFCO in Sunshine.  MEFCO, owned by Peter and Glenn McDonald {Rotary Altona City} has supported storage and movement of playgrounds. Glenn was in the depth of action loading pallets of books and heavier playground elements.
District Governor Graeme Hope came along to see Rotarians in action as they loaded the playgrounds, together with six pallets of children’s books thanks to DiK.

The Maldives project is in partnership with the High Commissioner to the Maldives and the Australian Maldives Friendship Association who have requested 53 playgrounds for their island schools.

The good news is that RORP West has requests in the pipeline for Pakistan and the Philippines.  And RORP cells continue to operate out of District 9815 based at Nunawading and Mount Martha, covering parts of the east and south of Victoria.

Editor's note: This is a great Rotary project, having been part of it in Boroondara. Groups of Clubs in an area should consider working with their municipalities to revive it in their area.
