Thirty years ago, the Lions Club of Essendon organised the first "I Love Australia" breakfast to recognise Australia Day and to promote the Made in Australia campaign.  When the local Lions Club were seeking to hand over the management of the event, the Rotary Club of Essendon North decided to continue this iconic event in the City of Moonee Valley calendar.

The event has historically attracted strong community support and, as the 2025 breakfast will celebrate its 30th anniversary, Rotarians are stepping up the promotion of this time-honoured event.  Former champion marathon runner Steve Moneghetti AM will be guest speaker and he will chat about the power of running and advocating its health benefits as we age.  Speakers in the early days included former State Premiers the late Rupert Hamer, John Brumby and Steve Bracks as well as Peter Hitchener, the late Frank Costa, Susan Alberti and Barry Jones.

Next year’s breakfast will be held at the Event’s Centre, Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields on Australia Day, 26 January 2025 from 8:00am.  The cost of $50 per person includes a plated breakfast. The Rotarians of Essendon North extend an invitation District to Rotarians and their friends to make this morning a special occasion, worthy of a 30th anniversary event.
