Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

RYLA is a week long residential program conducted annually for 18 to 25 year olds and is aimed at encouraging and developing leadership, personal development and social skills, so that awardees can more effectively contribute to their communities in a practical manner. RYLA provides opportunities for young people to come together to gain a better understanding of their own strengths and the unique qualities and abilities of others. The program aims to empower and encourage participants to return to their communities and make a positive contribution. Each Rotary club is invited to nominate, sponsor or part-sponsor a potential young leader and provide practical support and encouragement. We encourage sponsor clubs to meet their participants prior to the seminar and to invite them to report back after its conclusion. During the RYLA program there is a formal dinner on Thursday 7 December 2017 to which Rotarians are invited, so participants can relate their experiences to sponsoring club members and learn more about Rotary.
RYLA Camp dates are Sunday 2nd December to Saturday 8th December 2018.

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)

RYPEN is a Rotary sponsored Youth Service program for 15 to 17 year old students, from schools across District 9800. Students attend a weekend camp designed to develop their potential through a mixture of lecture style sessions and adventure-based learning. It aims to communicate a series of ideas, problems and social experiences that will assist them in forming their own values and moral standards. Rotaractors and Rylarians act as leaders for the camp, and a Rotary club hosts a Rotary meeting on the Saturday evening while enjoying excellent fellowship with the students and leaders.
The two RYPEN camps will be held over the periods during October 2018 and April 2019. Both camps are held at the DOXA Campsite near Malmsbury
