Around the Bay
Around the Bay, run by Bicycle Network, is an annual community bike ride that attracts over 10,000 participants. The Smith Family and its "Learning for Life Program” are the official charity partner for the Around the Bay ride with a portion of rider entrance fees going to The Smith Family - over $12 million has been raised by the event since 1993.
Rotary clubs are the largest source of volunteers for Around the Bay – carrying out tasks critical to making sure the event runs smoothly and safely. Without our volunteers it would be very hard to stage the event
Bicycle Network makes a donation for every Rotary volunteer which means that together with other club-based fund raising activities Rotary clubs provide an additional $20,000 each year to The Smith Family.
Rotarians volunteer as route marshals and at rest stations located at various locations between Sorrento and Williamstown. Helping with Around the Bay is a great way to spend half a day engaging with other Rotarians and thousands of riders. Volunteering helps the Smith Family "Learning for Life program" and shows the wider community what Rotarians can do when they work together.
