It proved such a success with the competing students and teaching staff alike, that planning immediately commenced for a more comprehensive program. Two years later, Wynspeak formally came into being as an annual event held in May. Eight local schools from throughout the Western region of Melbourne, including Footscray, Sunshine, Williamstown, Altona, Point Cook, and out to Melton and Bacchus Marsh, entered the competition.
