URGENT APPEAL

WERN (Western Emergency Relief Network) is part of the City of Maribyrnong Flood Recovery Committee and is offering support in several ways. Many of the 400 families affected by the recent floods are struggling with financial and insurance implications of the devastation.

Do you have vocational skills with an insurance background that could help?

Do you have an insurance background? If so, are you willing to provide a little of your time to guide our local residents in accessing appropriate, accurate advice?  Would you be willing, when available, to put a few hours into a Consultation Committee on a roster basis to provide residents sound advice?

Rotarians are always first to stand up and offer assistance in times of need. Natural disasters need appropriate planning and support for the best individual outcomes; and lessons well-learnt have taught us many times that families take many months to come to terms with their loss and devastation.

The Residents of Maribyrnong are now emerging from the flood disaster, and ready for our support in a number of ways.

Affected residents often require guidance in line with advice and resources from the Insurance Council of Australia. WERN is providing material aid support for those families in need; and Maribyrnong Council also wish to have a Volunteer Committee as a resource to their community where they are struggling with what are often complex insurance issues.

WERN will manage the initial contacts and disburse the enquiries to our Volunteer Team of consultants in accordance with availability.

If you are interested in helping please contact our WERN Administration Team led by PDG Ross Butterworth on 0411 228 311; or email administration@wern.org
