An article from Des O'Shanassy, District Interact Chair
Whilst fourteen Rotary clubs have sponsored new Interact clubs in recent years , a very good argument remains regarding the need to encourage far more clubs to invite schools in their region to charter an Interact club

Interact clubs are a great way to assist students to develop community spirit through altruistic service projects , benefiting their communities and developing their leadership skills. Interact support in District 9800 is provided by Des O’Shanassy from the Rotary club of Hoppers Crossing, ably supported by deputy Jane Watters from the Rotary club of Woodend.
We currently have fourteen clubs doing amazing work in their school, their community and internationally through worthwhile projects all selected by the clubs themselves. Interested Rotary clubs may contact Des or Jane regarding the process for chartering a club . Support will, of course, be required from the potential sponsor club and a member or two should be allocated from the club should be appointed in an advisory role, which involves attending Interact meetings where possible and providing general support, mentoring and guidance to the students you will be working with.
So if your club is looking for a meaningful, useful and fun way or working with youth in your community, then please consider Interact as a club Youth Project.
