In October, under the direction of PDG Ross Butterworth, volunteers rolled up their sleeves for some Hands-on Volunteering with the DG at Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN).

Once again, there were numerous volunteers, both Rotarians and non-Rotarians, working side by side in different areas of WERN’s fantastic new premises, filled with many items ranging from bedding to homewares, and helping those in need.

As PDG Ross commented “Firstly, A BIG THANK YOU for your help last week, it is amazing what can get done in a short couple of hours when people just pitch in and help. A lot of laughter was heard and this makes it twice the fun when you know your efforts are changing lives. WERN has had a big week and is now faced with a much greater task - more about that to come. Truly, your efforts were much appreciated by all our volunteers, only some of who you met on the day; but many appreciative comments followed during the week when they noticed a lot of the mountains of donations were sorted, stored and packed ready for clients.”

Volunteers from International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) once again joined us as did PDG Grant Hocking and Melissa. Rotarians from various clubs came along and sorted, folded, packed, moved and then enjoyed an informative talk by PDG Ross about WERN over a lovely lunch and coffee.

Thank you everyone who attended – you have made a difference in other people’s lives and WERN would be very happy to have your assistance again.

Join us for our next Volunteering with the DG experience at RIMERN on Saturday 3 December 2022. To register, please check out the Events page on our District website or click on the following link:https://www.trybooking.com/CBKUQ
