In the middle of a long Melbourne winter, Rotarians and friends of Essendon Rotary, in conjunction with The Living Room – Youth Projects were able to provide some warmth and comfort to the homeless in the city.  With the assistance of a Rotary Foundation Grant sleeping bags were distributed to 130 rough sleepers.

Members of Essendon Rotary were made aware by The Living Room – Youth Projects that there was a desperate need for appropriate sleeping bags for people living rough through the freezing nights on the streets of Melbourne’s CBD. Discussions were held with the Living Room’s Night Nurses and Essendon members joined them as they worked through the evening. Essendon Rotary contributed $2,475.00 which was successfully matched by a grant from Rotary District 9800’s Rotary Foundation.  This enabled us to purchase 130 sleeping bags which were delivered to the grateful staff of The Living Room to distribute to their clients who were very much in need of a warm bed for the night.

Essendon Rotary thanks BCF Boating, Camping, Fishing in Braybrook, Rotary District 9800,  The Rotary Foundation and our members for their contribution to this amazing project.
