District 9800 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is returning as a face to face program in February 2022. RYLA is a leadership program for young people aged 18 to 25 which focuses on personal growth, leadership development and community.
After delivering a successful online program in early 2021, we are delighted to be delivering our week-long residential program at Camp Getaway in Axedale, Victoria from Sunday February 13th to Saturday February 19th 2022.
RYLA brings goal oriented, motivated individuals together to learn from each other. RYLA utilises speakers who are experts in their fields, who run experiential workshops designed to develop diverse leadership skills. Confidence, motivation and passion are all enhanced by RYLA and there is an emphasis on improving communication skills, introspection and emotional intelligence. Awardees report a range of benefits and skills that they take back with them to apply to their personal and professional lives. They also have access to a large Alumni network from across the Oceania region and opportunities to continue their leadership development after the program week.
For many young people, RYLA serves as an introduction to Rotary and sponsoring a RYLA candidate is a great way for clubs to foster connections with youth in their community. The cost for the candidate this year will be $50 with the remaining $950 being paid by the sponsoring Rotary Club/s. If the candidate is experiencing financial hardship whereby $50 will be a barrier, the club may pay this on the candidate’s behalf. We thank clubs throughout the district for their continued support of this program.
RYLA 9800 sees leadership potential in young people from all backgrounds, not just those who have previously held leadership roles. We want to hear from young people who are open to challenging themselves.
