Ross Nancarrow of Rotary Club of Port Macquarie and Executive Director of Every Daughter Matters visited Melbourne in late 2024 making presentations to several Rotary clubs on the work of that NGO’s program rescuing Nepal’s daughters from human trafficking.
Ross advised the need for a Computer Training Centre and program for rescued girls to be set up in the NGO’s safe house and refuge centre, in Butwal, Nepal. A Project plan and budget was created and a relationship with the Rotary Club of Kathmandu was established. The facility and training program would enhance digital and computer skills, safe online engagement and employability of girls rescued from human trafficking.
The centre would provide structured digital training which would equip girls with job ready skills, strengthen long term economic independence and provide livelihood opportunities. It would help break the cycle of vulnerability and enable vocational empowerment with a long term community impact.
The Rotary Club of Kathmandu was the local project partner with President Rajendra Gautam closely facilitating equipment purchase and installation. The training centre was officially opened and handed over to Aashish Social Services Nepal and Every Daughter Matters in early May 2026.
The event was held in the presence of chief guest, District Governor Nominee RID 3292 Dr I P Dhakal, along with Club President Rajendra Gautam and President Elect Puspa Raj Sharma. This milestone marked the successful completion of this very important Rotary project.
The centre is now fully operational and ready to deliver structured training programs aimed at empowering survivors of human trafficking. The initiative was led by the Rotary Club of Brighton North with support from the Rotary Clubs of Chadstone/East Malvern, Hawthorn and Beaumaris (District 9815) and a Rotary District 9800 International Grant.
