By District Governor Graeme HopeOn Saturday 27 June, our District came together at the Hawthorn Arts Centre to celebrate the year that was under District Governor Peter and to mark the installation of Sue and me for the year ahead. It is a day the two of us will remember for a very long time.
Our Master of Ceremonies, PDG Michael Lapiña, ensured the changeover lunch was truly memorable. He wove thoughtful personal messages through the afternoon and drew out the significance of the Baton change, honouring the continuity it represents. He acknowledged our Past District Governors, our award winners and the members whose work makes so much of what we do possible. The Rotaract Music Makers filled the room with beautiful songs, and Michael's rendition of "You Raise Me Up" was a stunning finale for Sue and me.
It was a very satisfying occasion all round. The numbers on the day were strong, the Main Hall carried a wonderful ambience, and the Baton change theme ran beautifully through the program. Having my family and my fellow Rotary Club of Camberwell members there to witness the changeover, alongside the wonderful music and such a warm and fun atmosphere, made the day complete.
