The Rotary Walk With Us is our District’s month-long campaign to raise funds and awareness for Rotary International’s number one global project; the eradication of polio worldwide.

Canberra Sundowners
Our Rotary Walk With Us  has been supported by individuals and teams from other clubs and districts in Australia, including the Rotary Club of Canberra Sundowners who have been flying the flag in the national capital, holding walks around Lake Burley Griffin and enjoying this great location. And in our district, to celebrate World Polio Day (24 October) on Sunday 26 October, a group of District 9800 Rotarians and their furry friends walked alongside the Yarra stazrting off at Leonda.
The fundraising has just reached over $40,000 and it be wonderful if we could exceed last year’s total of $47,000.  That would mean a final push this week for donations.  So check on the Rotary Walk With Us link:
Also on Sunday last, the District Foundation team held a different sort of fundraising activity for the same cause where we enjoyed a movie screening of “The Travellers” at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville.  The proceeds from this activity will go towards the End Polio cause.  The audience was challenged to paint a “pinkie” purple to show their support of End Polio Now.  It was very fortunate it was an indoor activity as the weather was not suitable for any outdoor activity as we experienced monsoonal rain along with some wind and hail.  Thank you to all who attended and contributing to … Doing Good in the World.
