The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is the peak national organisation dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on the Australian community by:
Rotary Club of Lane Cove in NSW developed the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia in 1996 when one of their members, a well known journalist, Roger Climpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer and could find no information.
Rotary Clubs all over Australia are now outstanding supporters of PCFA.
Through support from Rotary District 9800, the program was successful in applying for a Grant from the Federal Government for the National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker Program.
PCFA has trained 92 National Men’s Health Ambassador Speakers and are available free to any Rotary Club in Australia. They have already spoken to over 30,000 audience members since October 2008 creating awareness of Prostate Health and Continence Health.
Clubs can invite a National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker to their club, and /or promote the program to a Rotary Club in regional or rural Australia thereby assisting us to reach our marketing target of 50,000 audience members! Please know that every audience member is given a take home National Men’s Health Links with contact details for 20 areas of health of interest to men. This allows men to access information on Cardiovascular Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Cancer, Depression, Relationship issues, and many other health areas from home and in their own time.
