Rotarian Action Group of MS Awareness (RAGMSA)
RAGMSA is one of Rotary International's sixteen Action Groups established to promote MS awareness, encourage Rotarians and MS societies to collaborate to contribute via fundraising activities to MS research and provide support for people with MS (pwMS).
Many Rotarians with empathy for pwMS already participate in MS Society fund raising events globally. RAGMSA aim is for Rotarians to increase that involvement, documenting Rotary Club projects to increase MS Awareness to help prevent and find a cure for MS.
RAGMSA focus is to build a network of Rotarians internationally with members communicating via yahoo email group. Members are encouraged to become active in their district.
Events will be timed to coincide with Global MS Day May 23 annually.
- Macedon Ranges Bike Ride to be held annually the first Sunday in May.
- Melbourne University collaboration identifies high potential students for MS Research Scholarships.
- RAGMSA invited to attend MS Australia Research Partners Presentations outlining how investment in MS Research is making a real difference.
- Carol Cooke is an MS Society Ambassador and started the 24 hour Megaswim in 2001 and now 9 years later the swims are running in 3 Australian States.
Carol’s dream is the 24 Megaswim to become a national and international event by developing a process template. Rotary Clubs facilitate these events by organizing teams and use the MS Society on line facilities to promote the event and register participants.
- A team to has been established to investigate an intensive 24/7 Care facility for young people concept.
