HONEY BEE INTEREST MEETING

Tuesday 28th February,2012

The Honey Bee in Australia is under threat. The Rotary Club of Caulfield is promoting simple steps which urban householders can undertake to assist in maintaining local, healthy honey bee populations. There is also renewed interest in individual bee keeping. To enable those interested to learn more, the Club is hosting the Glen Eira Honey Bee Interest Group.

This year’s Convention has the lowest registration fee of any recent World Convention and with inexpensive air travel to & from Australia and outstanding value for money hotels, this convention will be the most affordable for many years.

District Club Service Director Chris Don has appointed PP Peter Milburn (rotary Club of Malvern) as our Districts On To World Conference Chairman.  Peter has agreed to act as our Districts coordinator and is happy to assist with any information relating to the Convention to be held in Bangkok.  There will be opportunities through Peter of group hotel bookings as well as organized tours. Hat Day 2012 for Mental Health Research

Hat Day is on again in 2012. 

Clubs and Districts are putting into place plans for next year’s Hat Day.

This year we hope to get greater involvement with business and the general community.

What are some of the plans?

District 9810 are looking at selling something like paper hats at the main Melbourne railways stations.

Districts 9500 & 9520 are running a Hat Day sticker project throughout the districts using this design.

District 9830 is planning a couple of major events and a number of club events. This could include a Race Day in Launceston.
