Last week, The Interact Club of Aitken College was officially chartered at a special Charter Night. The Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tullamarine.
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. The clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are selfgoverning and self-supporting.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of
As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon. Almost 200,000 young people are involved in Interact.
The Interact Club of Aitken College is already supporting a Church based charity that develops schools in poor South Pacific nations. Many of the Interactors are involved in the College based Fairview Community Service group and others are involved in community organizations such as St. John’s Ambulance and RSPCA.
The night was very well attended by Interactors, Parents, Staff and Rotarians. We were honoured to host Colin Muir, Rotary District 9800 Governor, Chris Saflekas, President Rotary Club of Tullamarine and Reverend Clem Dickinson, Chair of Aitken College Board, who all spoke to the students about their own positive experiences in Service Clubs.
