The First Steps Web Portal

The First Steps

is a program developed by Rotary to assist young Australians in preparing for and finding a job. The program helps not only point young jobseekers in the right direction, but also assists them in developing the self-awareness, goals, realism, confidence and savvy that is required both in getting a job and succeeding in it.
The First Steps has been developed into an interactive, contemporary feeling web portal aimed at the 16-25 year old demographic who are the ones most likely to be looking for their first opportunities in their professional life.

The pilot First Steps web portal is currently located online at http://www.job-first-steps.net/

How Can You Get Involved or Help Out?


The First Steps has the potential to positively impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of young Australians by helping them pair off with employers looking for people just like them – but to do so, the program needs exposure, promotion, support and an ability to attract the attention of those it seeks to help (the lure of potential jobs doesn’t hurt either).

Ways you or your company can help out and ge involved include:

  • Sponsorship of the First Steps Web Portal
  • Providing jobs or traineeships for young people who have completed the First Steps program
  • Donation of advertising space on property or transport (e.g. on the side of your company's trucks)
  • Printing of advertising and promotional materials
  • Financial contributions to promote and maintain the program
  • You tell us other ideas!

Get involved in Rotary!

Either as a new Rotarian or as a partner to our initiatives, your contribution can make a difference. Programs like this one rely on the efforts of volunteer Rotarians, whose time and effort has enabled the rollout of similar initiatives to thousands of young Australians.
