In the lead-up to International Men’s Day (IMD) 2023, and in line with Rotary International President Gordon McInally’s focus on Mental Health, on November 17, Rotary Caroline Springs held a fundraising dinner to recognize community champions. Local organisations nominated people within their organisations to acknowledge their contribution and achievements in recognising mental health issues in the community.
Recipients of recognition included Mary Brand from Caroline Springs RSL Sub Branch, Sam Vincent from Multicultural Association of Community Empowerment Inc (M.A.C.E)., Jono Ingram 1st Caroline Springs Scout Group, and Janeane Baker from Tobin Brothers. Representing Caroline Springs Fire Brigade (CFA) were Ryan Baker and his lovely wife Caitlin and parishioners of St Catherine Siena Catholic Parish including Fr-Richard Rosse. Congratulations to all the nominees. You and your organisations are all Champions.

The awards were presented by the Mayor of Melton Kathy Madjlik and Rotary President Vijay Susarla. Our MC Paul Hooper did an amazing job introducing the recipients and keeping the evening moving It was a simple night with lots of conversation, an enjoyable dinner, and much laughter.

Special thanks must go to our guest speaker John Toomey who gave us an inspiring presentation on kindness and why it matters to not be so self-absorbed with ourselves that we fail to notice others in the world around us. Thank you, John. Your words of kindness matter.

We would also particularly like to thank our sponsors Tobin Brothers and Modeina for their generous support, donation, and encouragement.
On the night we raised $2,000 that will be donated to Movember (a not-for-profit organisation striving to improve men's health and well-being).
