Recognise The Efforts Of Disabled Achievers
The Shine On Awards are an Australia-wide Rotary Awards initiative that recognises outstanding service by persons with disabilities who disregard their disabilities in reaching their goals to serve others.

Who Can Be Nominated ?



Nominations are invited for people from any field of endeavour and the same nomination form is used for both categories of nominee.

Candidates must be:



(i) Youth:

age 15 to 20 years at 1 January in the year in which the award is made

(ii) Adult:

21 years and above

  • Nominee's consent to nomination must be obtained prior to nomination
  • Nominee must be a resident of Australia for a minimum of 3 years
  • Nominators could be required to furnish verification of nominee's disability
  • Nominators must complete all sections of the nomination form and identify and record evidence of dedicated community service, above and beyond self
  • For re-nomination a candidate will need to show significant development of previous achievements or development of new endeavours.

All candidates for the award can expect to receive recognition at some level although not all will receive the Shine On Award trophy. All Candidates are presented with a Certificate of Commendation.

Summary of personal history, the surmounting of disability, work experience, etc.
Summary of community service, leadership and "shining" example to others
Additional information to support the nomination


How Are Nominations Made ?



Nominations for Victoria will be made to the Shine On Awards Rotary Victorian Districts committee.

How Can You Get Involved or Help Out?


You can nominate someone with a disability that has served the community in a significant way. Simply contact us at the email address listed below to find out more about nominating a person who has shown significant ability despite a disability.

Contributions to reward individuals, highlight and promote their achievements, and to sponsor the Shine On Awards evening are most welcome.
