The Australian Synchrotron is a $206m science facility under construction in Clayton, Melbourne. It will open in early 2007.
Overseas synchrotrons have been used to improve chocolate, make faster jet engines, solve crimes, make new medicines and even unravel the mystery of Beethoven's death. The Australian Synchrotron office has a bank of speakers who can explain the synchrotron and its uses in general (non-technical) terms. ***Please Note: that the team have a speaker who is willing to travel beyond the metropolitan area, particularly within the Daylesford region***
