Rotary Shelter Box Project: providing shelter in the wake of disaster.
Clubs in Rotary District 9800 co-ordinate, run and partner a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at helping those in need in the wake of natural and man-made disasters.

Your help can make a huge difference to the lives of those undergoing the most unimaginable consequences.
While aid flows in immediately after major disasters have occurred, Rotarians are often working behind the scenes preparing well before the event or helping rebuild in the extended period after the occurrence has passed. Rotary Shelter Boxes provide vital temporary shelter and accommodation in the form of large tents which can be dropped by air into areas experiencing the aftermath of earthquakes, cyclones, hurricanes, floods, or other major adverse events. See how you can help keep a family sheltered from the elements following a natural disaster.

Many families lost not only their homes, but their livelihoods and their main income earners in the devastation of the 2004 Tsunami Disaster. To this day they are still trying to recover.

In the aftermath of the destruction and human tragedy, the Support a Village Initiative (SAVI) was introduced to focus on the longer term rebuilding and reconstruction of infrastructure and livelihoods in India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand.
