Camp Getaway
| Thanks to the support of District 9800 clubs, Rotary Camp Getaway is an exciting project providing a camp / nature retreat for community based groups and Rotarians to use.
The camp aims to provide a highly accessible, quality recreational facility serving the needs of various Rotary and community initiatives. Already in operation, further accommodation at Rotary Camp Getaway is nearing operational readiness.
| Rotary Camp Getaway caters for those of all abilities and mobility, provides a meeting place for support groups, and offers those who need it most a sanctuary away from their daily struggles.
Located in Axedale in Victoria (15 minutes from Bendigo), the former youth camp has received a tremendous makeover - thousands of voluntary hours have already gone into redeveloping the site to create self contained units with full disabled facilities and a modern dormitory.
With the work of a number of Rotary clubs and generous donations including that of a 25,000 litre water tank, Rotary Camp Getaway has been the result of concerted fundraising, working bees and construction efforts by Rotary volunteers.
The end result is a contemporary and functional facility situated in natural, bright and accessible surrounds.
In a coup for a Rotary project, The Australian Tax Office has acknowledged Rotary Camp Getaway as a public benevolent institution and thus donations from companies and individuals are tax deductible.
